The Three Obstacles
Our mind so easily wants to take the path of least resistance. Even after we fortify and train for resiliency, if we slip up for even one day we succumb to it's weakness. Least resistance has other names: fear, lethargy, over confidence. There is always room to improve, remember that. We can always get better no matter what aspect of life. When fear creeps in, it is poison to the mind and soul. Overwhelmed and infatuated our every thought becomes. Unable to use sound logic to observe the world. There is only one objective for the mind, ever present danger. Lethargy hounds us everyday to conserve energy. It is our innate and ancestral voice that reminds us to prepare for scarce times ahead. But those days are long past, and we need to be ever vigilant for modern times. Resources are abundant now, and we so easily loose the drive to better our encampment and gather resources. Our human programming hasn't caught up just yet. Over confidence usually sneaks up on us when we least expect it. We put in the hard work and make good progress only to find our inner voice telling us we deserve to be rewarded for our work. Rewarding ourselves for hard work is crucial, but only when done sparingly. It is a slippery slope that is hard to recover from. When we finally realize what's happening we are sliding down the mountain, and we are already halfway down. The journey back up is treacherous. So friends, be prepared. Watch out for the warning signs. Choose to stay focused and aware. Choose to be continually getting better.
