Today is the final day

What if you were told that you were going to die today? That your life you lived up until now was all you had and this is it. Would you be happy? Would you be sad? would you have regrets? Would you try to amend relationships? Would you try to fill your final day with things you love doing? Your mind changes. Your perspective changes. Your priorities change. What if at the end of your final day, it turns out that you did not succumb to the grips of death and you have one extra final day. What would you do? What would you do with this bonus day? Certainly, you wouldn't spend it planning for future events that are never going to to come to fruition! You would spend it doing much of the same as the previous final day. Why do we traverse our lives any differently? We act as if tomorrow is guaranteed, but it is not. That is why we must treat each day as our last, hope for another tomorrow, and enjoy it as a bonus.

You Choose Who You Become

Our thoughts make up who we are and the world around us. We don't see the objective reality of events. We see our brains interpretation of them. This means that we can choose how we see things, how we feel things, how we remember things. We have the power to choose our thoughts. We have power of mind. Don't let other persuade how we think. If we find that something difficult and challenging is fun, don't let them tell us how stupid or crazy we are. They are naïve to the truth of life. That we can turn any negative into positive. Any defeat into victory. Any failure into growth. We can choose to think better. We can choose to be better. Believe it. Think it. Feel it. Envision it. Embrace it. Become the person we so desire to be. Our mind has the freedom and the power to do so.

Our Ultimate Judgement and Perception

How often do we let events bother us greatly, and when given time, come to realize that it was nothing at all. But when in the moment, we are immensely disturbed. Infatuated by thoughts, unable to abolish them from our mind. They creep in like tendrils or roots and take hold not able to relinquish them, we panic. If we can take a step back and look the the situation objectively, we can begin to see maybe its not so bad after all. The event that caused us so great turmoil was actually just a tiny blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things. Ultimately, it is our judgement and perception of what happened that causes us much grief. What if we could immediately cast out any judgements or assumptions that rise up? What would happen then? Maybe all of the pain might never cease to exist to begin with? What a wonderful thing that would be?

Mind Heart Body Soul

Mind, heart, body, soul. The mind interprets how we understand the world around us. Calculating and predicting events, drawing on past memories and learnings. The heart is what gives us our drive. It is the love of family, friends and colleagues. The body is what we traverse the terrestrial world in. Providing data and feedback from the environment around us. It must always be stimulated. And finally, the soul. "You are a little soul carrying around a corpse." - Epictetus. Our soul is our connectedness to the universe. That sense of being a part of something bigger than ourselves. The sense of connecting with a long lost friend and having not skipped a bit. The sense of meeting someone for the first time and feeling that you've already known them a lifetime. The sense of being somewhere you haven't been before, but knowing you've been there all along. The soul is the invisible light  that reaches out from inside us, and interlocks with those precious few along th

Dig into the Nooks and Crannies

How many people struggle in this world because they are focused on the wrong things? People are so stressed on stupid things that don't matter and don't add any value to their lives or the people around them. How quick they are to deflect the blame of anything and everything. When really they need to point the finger of truth at themselves. But that is not so easy. It is not their fault however that they are oblivious to the true nature of things. My suggestion would be stop sit them down, have them look themselves in the mirror, and have a deep conversation with themselves. They need to explore their mind, dig into all the nooks and crannies to rediscover themselves. They've been reacting to everything in their lives, but what they need to do is start acting on their own will, figure out what their desires are and move towards them. It is scary. What if you find something you don't like? What if you find something in your own mind that scares you? GOOD! Now you can tr
